Charters Towers Central State School is a physically large school located in the centre of Charters Towers. Charters Towers Central State School comprises a number of teaching blocks:
  • A Block – Houses Administration, Year 2 and Year 4 as well as specialist offices and learning support facilities.
  • B Block is heritage listed and is located towards the rear of the school grounds. Presently our school’s instrumental music program is housed in this building.
  • C Block – Year 3, Year 3/4 and Learning Centre middle classes, as well as the school’s support  teacher literacy and numeracy are located in this building.
  • D Block – Is a two story building containing Year 1, and Learning Centre lower class on the ground floor, and Year 5/6,  and the school's support teacher literacy and numeracy on the second floor.
  • Resource Centre – The Resource Centre was refurbished in 2010 as part of the BER projects.  The Resource Centre is located towards the front of the school and operates daily.  The Computer Lab is also loctated in the Resource Centre.
  • Prep Building – Charters Towers Central State School has dedicated Prep facilities, which include bathrooms, play areas, teaching offices and kitchenettes. 
  • Hall – A new multi purpose hall was constructed in 2011, as part of the Building the Educational Revolution program.  The Hall is fully enclosed and contains a fully functional kitchen, meeting room, toilet, stage and storage areas.

All classrooms are fully air conditioned and have an interactive whiteboard access.  There are laptops in use throughout the school.  iPads are also in use throughout the school.  The school is fully wireless enabled allowing students to use the laptops, iPads and digital devices throughout the school, creating exciting and diverse learning environments.

The school is fully wheelchair accessible and has a number of dedicated wheel chair accessible toilet facilities.

A new multi-purpose outdoor sports court was built in 2010 and is located on the school’s oval.  This facility is fully fenced and allows children to play a variety of ball games and sports in safety.
